Louisville Coalition for Immigrant Support (LCIS)
LCIS Mission Statement
The Louisville Coalition for Immigrant Support (LCIS) was formed to support our immigrant neighbors proactively to prevent crises and reactively to address immediate needs to keep individuals safe and families together.
The coalition includes existing agencies, organizations, and concerned individuals who share information, expertise, and resources to ensure our immigrant neighbors receive fair and just treatment in the Kentuckiana region.

LCIS partners with 18 nonprofit organizations in Louisville, all committed to supporting refugees and immigrants through diverse services and initiatives designed to address the growing demand. By empowering established organizations with deep community ties, LCIS ensures efficient and impactful mobilization. This is the core of LCIS’s mission.

Know Your Rights
Comprehensive on-the-ground training is provided to equip affected individuals and community partners with the necessary knowledge and tools to safeguard themselves and their communities during ICE raids. These sessions empower participants with practical strategies, legal insights, and actionable steps to respond effectively and ensure their rights are protected in such critical situations.

Legal Support
Providing legal support to individuals detained by ICE or needing protection from detention is essential for safeguarding rights. This involves navigating immigration laws, advocating for fair treatment, and clarifying legal options. The current legal supports available are limited in Louisville and requite continued investment.

Immediate Needs
Offering comprehensive support through food assistance, financial aid, and childcare services, and addressing various other urgent needs to help individuals and families navigate challenging situations effectively.

Emergency Planning
Collaborating closely with community members to develop a comprehensive plan that ensures their safety and the well-being of their children during an emergency. This process involves engaging families in meaningful discussions, identifying potential risks, and creating tailored strategies that address their specific needs and circumstances.

Community Support
“They have helped me foster a community that has been nothing but
supportive, kind, and engaging.“
Legal Support
“86% of detained immigrants without a lawyer are deported, compared to just 30% of those with legal representation.“
